FLOSSMOOR | Homewood-Flossmoor High School was ranked the top public high school in the south suburbs and No. 55 in Illinois on the Washington Post's list of America's Most Challenging High Schools. The school was ranked No. 1,504 in the country.
Schools are judged on the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate of Education tests are given in a year divided by the number of seniors who graduated in May or June. The school's "challenge index" has risen from 1.489 in 2013 to 1.594 this year, meaning more students are taking challenging courses. H-F was ranked No. 1,545 last year and 1,471 the year before.
