FLOSSMOOR, Ill. | The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District offers the following  in the months of December, January and February.


The Homewood-Flossmoor Parks Department will begin flooding local outdoor rinks located at Flossmoor Park in Flossmoor and Willowview Park in Homewood during the season’s first prolonged cold spell. At least four consecutive days at 22 degrees or below is needed for quality ice. Check hfparks.com for rink availability or call (708) 957-0300.


Nov. 25 - Jan. 20

Containers will be at H-F Racquet & Fitness Center, Irwin Center, H-F Ice Arena, Wiley’s Grill and Irons Oaks

Last year we recycled an amazing 600 lbs. of broken holiday lights and cords. Drop your broken lights and extensions cords in a bin at one of the collection locations between Nov. 25 and Jan. 20 or bring them to Irons Oaks on tree collection day, Jan 4. Thank you for helping Homewood-Flossmoor Green Up.


6 to 8 p.m., Friday

Irwin Community Center – 18120 S. Highland Ave., Homewood

Need to finish some holiday shopping? Bring your kids to us for an evening of fun. Send them in their favorite pj's for pizza, a holiday craft and movie. Feel free to bring a sleeping bag and your favorite stuffed animal along for a night of “sleep over” fun. Ages 4-8.

Fee: $15 Resident / $23 Nonresident


9 to 10 a.m. and 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. Saturday

Irwin Community Center – 18120 S. Highland Ave., Homewood

Music, merriment and wishes for holiday toys are found at this event for children and their parents. Visit with Santa and enjoy doughnuts, milk and orange juice. Get in the spirit with songs, face painting and a special gift from Santa. Digital pictures with Santa will be available at hfparks.com following the event.

Fee: $8 Resident / $12 Nonresident (Ages 6 months and under free)


7 to 8 p.m. Dec. 16 to Dec. 20

Santa Claus is coming to town for an early visit, and he wants to stop by your home, office or special holiday party. Please allow at least three days prior to the requested visit date. Space is limited, visits are approximately 15 minutes. Registration required. Homewood-Flossmoor Park District residents only.

Fee: $30 Per Visit


5:30 p.m. Dec 23 

H-F Ice Arena – 777 Kedzie Ave., Flossmoor

Take a few hours away from holiday preparations and come celebrate the holiday season with us. Enjoy a variety of holiday music while watching competitive skaters of all ages and levels perform. A very special guest will be joining us immediately following the show. Can you guess who he is?

Admission: $3


7 p.m. Dec 23

H-F Ice Arena – 777 Kedzie Ave., Flossmoor

Enjoy a special opportunity to take the ice with Santa Claus, just moments before Christmas. Bring along the kids and a camera to capture these holiday memories during this popular annual event.

Admission: $6, Skate Rental $4


9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 23 to Jan 6 

H-F Sports Complex – 18211 Aberdeen St., Homewood

Spend winter break with the coolest camp around. Camp Frosty will be held at the Sports Complex where we will be on an Arctic Adventure. Head north on sleds and skis where we will encounter a Frosty Factory, a Penguin Party and a Hibernation Hideaway. It is all part of our cool Camp Frosty. Ages: Kindergarten to Fifth Grade.

Fee: $27 Resident / $41 Nonresident


7 to 9 a.m. and 3:30 to 6 p.m., Dec 23, 26, 27, 30 and Jan 2, 3, 6

H-F Sports Complex – 18211 Aberdeen St., Homewood

Designed for children who cannot get enough of camp and for children with working parents. This camp includes an opportunity to get an early start or a continuation of each day's themed activities. Kindergarten to Fifth Grade.

Fee: $9 Resident / $13 Nonresident

Coyote Run Golf Course & H-F Ice Arena – 777 and 800 Kedzie Ave., Flossmoor

Do you have cabin fever? Come out of the house for some fun in the snow with your community. Enjoy pictures on our Zamboni, winter activities and games, plus treat yourself to warm food and drinks.

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bonfire, Cross Country Skiing,

Hayrides, Winter Bingo and Food

11:45 a.m. Sled Dog Mushing Q & A

12:30 p.m. Pictures with a Sled Dog

12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Skating at the H-F Ice Arena

1 p.m. Snowball Accuracy Throw

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 4

Irons Oaks Vollmer Road Lot – 20000 Western Ave., Olympia Fields

Bring your undecorated and unwrapped holiday trees to Irons Oaks anytime between Dec. 27 and Jan 11. Stack them neatly with the trunks pointed towards the parking lot. Donated trees are chipped for use on the trails at Irons Oaks. Community Tree dropoff day is Jan 4. Get help unloading your tree and stay for some fun.


6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Feb. 7

H-F Sports Complex – 18211 Aberdeen St., Homewood

Make that special date with your little girl(s)! Daddy Daughter Date Night is a favorite for both dads and daughters. The event is packed with dancing, pictures, corsages, crafts, snacks and a keepsake to take home. Digital pictures will be available at hfparks.com following the dance. If you have daughters that are different ages, they can attend the same dance.

Fee: $18 Resident / $27 Nonresident (Additional child: $9 Resident / $13 Nonresident)

Going to the Daddy Daughter Dance?

Start the evening at Wiley’s Grill with a special dinner for your special date. You can reserve your spot now, 5 and 7 p.m. service.

Cost: $22 Per Couple ($8 per additional child)

For the ladies, choice of one of the following:

Grilled Cheese with Fries

Penne Pasta with Marinara Sauce

For the Dads, choice of one of the following:
