A man accused of stabbing his mother multiple times and leaving her in a ditch was apprehended Thursday night by Flossmoor police.
Blake Springsteen, 22, was arrested on a warrant after his mother was found earlier in the week in a ditch in the 900 block of Columbia Street in Crete with numerous stab wounds, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office.
A warrant was issued Wednesday for Springsteen, who is accused of beating his 46-year-old mother in the 3600 block of Flossmoor Road in unincorporated Homewood, tying her up, putting her in the trunk of a car, driving her to Crete and stabbing her.
Springsteen was taken into custody without incident after investigators received a tip he was in the Flossmoor area, police said.
The woman remains hospitalized in stable condition, according to police.
The Cook County Sheriff's Office is seeking charges against Springsteen.
