GLENWOOD | At 5 p.m. Friday, Glenwood Village President Kerry Durkin will officiate over the ceremonial Tapping of the Keg, the event that traditionally opens Oktoberfests around the world.

A sample of the beer, a seasonal brew being donated by Flossmoor Station Restaurant & Brewery, will be distributed, while it lasts, to all of legal age present.

Sponsored by the village of Glenwood and the Homewood Area Chamber, Oktoberfest will take place from 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and noon to 11 p.m. Saturday at Glenwoodie Golf Club, 19301 S. State St. in Glenwood. There will be plenty of authentic German food, live music, imported beer, and even a Dachshund Parade at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The indoor/outdoor event will include an option of economical dinner choices, desserts, snacks and beverages, and shopping in a small Marketplace. There will be something for everyone at this “Old World-Style” family event.

For additional information, refer to the Homewood Area Chamber of Commerce website www.HomewoodAreaChamber.com, event Facebook Page Homewood Area Chamber Oktoberfest, or call the Chamber Office at (708) 206-3384.
