FLOSSMOOR | While some Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School students are learning about algebraic equations and the properties of physics, other much younger Vikings are learning their numbers and colors at the school's Little Viking Preschool.
The preschool will operate Feb. 3 to May 16 in the school's North Building under the direction of Allison O'Donnell, an Applied Academics teacher. O'Donnell's Child Development students design lessons for the preschoolers in subjects such as math, storytelling, dramatic play, science, writing, nutrition and art.
"Our main focus at Little Viking Preschool is preparing preschoolers for kindergarten and also encouraging a social environment," O'Donnell said.
Registration is now open. Parents can choose from a 12:15 to 2:30 p.m. session on Monday and Friday or from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Children must be age 3 by Jan. 1 and must be toilet trained. They do not have to live in Homewood-Flossmoor High School District 233.
Program fee is $100 with a $10 nonrefundable deposit due upon registration. The campus is located at 999 Kedzie Ave. For more information on Little Viking Preschool, call (708) 799-3000, ext. 5227.
