A Sauk Village woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing jewelry from her home health care patient in Lansing.
Vanity Webster, 25, has been charged with felony theft.
According to a news release from Lansing police, an elderly woman filed a report Nov. 15 stating that when she had returned home four days earlier, she discovered her engagement ring and wedding anniversary bands missing from the residence located in the 191st block of Wildwood.
The victim advised that she searched for days for the rings but was unable to locate them anywhere. The victim stated that the only other person in the house besides her and her husband was Webster, a home health care nurse for her husband.
An investigation into the matter revealed that Webster pawned two rings on Nov. 11 that matched the description of the victim’s rings, the press release states. The victim was able to positively identify the rings pawned by Webster as hers, and they were returned to her.
Webster was arrested leaving her home Nov. 17 and gave a statement admitting to the theft of the rings, police said. She is free on bond ahead of her next scheduled court appearance Friday.
