LANSING | A 21,000-square-foot Carson's Store Clearance Center is set to open Saturday in the Landings Shopping Center on Torrence Avenue, according to a news release from Bon-Ton Stores Inc.
The store will offer clearance apparel for men, women and children as well as shoes, handbags and home items.
Carson’s had been a part of the River Oaks Shopping Center in Calumet City until earlier this year, when its parent, Bon-Ton Stores Inc., closed it following what corporate officials described as an ongoing performance review of the company’s assets.
The Landings shopping center, 16753 Torrence Ave., is located right across the Little Calumet River from the River Oaks mall. Currently, the closest Carson’s stores are in Hammond at Woodmar Mall and in Matteson at Lincoln Mall.
In September, Trustee Mikal Stole, who chairs the Economic Development Committee, said Carson’s is not the only addition The Landings could see in coming months.
He said talks are ongoing to put a retail shoe outlet store in the strip mall, while village officials also are trying to find a replacement for the International House of Pancakes restaurant that plans to leave the strip mall for a location a few blocks south on Torrence Avenue.
