LANSING | Fathers of Sunnybrook Elementary District 171 on Wednesday took their children to Nathan Hale Elementary and Heritage Middle schools on the first day of classes as part of the nationwide Million Father March.

It was the first time the Lansing/Lynwood school district participated in the Black Star Project event, which encourages fathers to get involved in their children's education. After school started fathers were invited to join Superintendent Hughes George for refreshments at Heritage Middle School.

George thanked all the parents for bringing their children to the first day of school. He especially thanked the fathers, grandfathers, and uncles who brought their children to school in support of the Million Father March.
