LANSING | Sunnybrook Elementary District 171’s website is expected to have a new look in the coming months.

Kerry Dean, director of business services, told the School Board on Wednesday that work is underway on the redesign of the website and he anticipates the upgraded site will be launched by the end of April.

Among other things, the new website will have a link to the district’s E-Pay system on the home page where parents will be able to pay their child’s fees electronically, Dean said.

Access to E-Pay is now available only through the Parent Connect portal on the website. The hope, Dean said, is that more parents will use the E-Pay system to make payments online.

The district’s web address will remain the same: www.sd171.org

Plans for a new and improved website came out of the district’s strategic planning process during which the redesign was highly recommended, according to Dean. He said he has been working with a web design developer on the project.

The district has solicited input from teachers, administrators and the school community to determine website content. School events and calendars, the Parent Connect portal, student progress information, resources for students, teacher web pages, school report cards, extracurricular and parent involvement opportunities, breakfast/lunch menus, budget and financial information, and the school district’s mission statement are among the items being suggested for the redesigned website.

Dean said the technology team and teachers will receive training that will help them keep the new website and web pages updated.

In other matters, the board recognized and congratulated the following employees for exemplary years of service to the district: Susan Brady, Paulette Brown, Leigh Anne Fredbloom and Lorraine Dombrowski for 20 years of service; Chuck Daker, Andrea Garritano, and Carole Thompson for 25 years of services; and Barb Beiner for 40 years of service.

The board also approved a $10 hourly rate increase from $200 to $210 per hour to the district’s attorney, Sraga Hauser, LLC, effective April 1.
