LANSING | In just a month and a half, First Step Preschool of Lynwood, located at the southwest corner of Torrence Avenue and Glenwood-Lansing Road in Lynwood, Illinois, is now under roof and on target to begin welcoming children in the spring of 2013. First Step will be able to accommodate children from six months to eight years of age.
Specifically, it will provide childcare services for ages six months to 36 months; preschool for children ages three and four; all day kindergarten for children age five (on or before September 1); and before and after school programs for children ages six through eight. Additionally, summer camp will offer children not only fitness programs, crafts, outdoor play and field trips, but also an hour of instruction once a day to keep the children's minds alert and ready to return to school in the fall.
The owner, Marilyn Seaton, is no stranger to the world of childcare. Currently the owner of First Step Preschool, located in South Holland, Illinois, Marilyn has run successful preschool programs for the past 15 years. First Step in South Holland has been a viable asset to the community in its ability to serve several nearby communities such as Dolton, Harvey, Lansing, Thornton, and Riverdale.
Prior to First Step, Marilyn was a teacher with the Chicago Public School System for 33 years. Her last 11 years at CPS was spent teaching First Grade, Kindergarten, Pre-K, and Head Start. When asked what words of wisdom she passes on to her school children, she stated that she tells them to "be the best you can be and there is no such word as can't."
The children and families of Lynwood will be the latest individuals to benefit from her exceptional childcare programs and 37 years of experience.
