On Dec. 21, more than 2,000 toys and $2,700 in gift cards were delivered by Dan Dempsey, of Highland, to Advocate Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn.
They will be used to cheer up children who are there undergoing chemotherapy and other cancer treatments. Dempsey said he decided to organize the toy drive as a way to give back for all the support his family has received as his 16-year-old son has been undergoing treatment at the hospital for leukemia and his wife has recently fought breast cancer.
