LANSING | Each year for nearly three decades, local historian Paul Schultz, has hosted a historical walking tour of downtown Lansing.
With bullhorn in hand, Paul leads his group from Ridge Road and Burnham east toward Wentworth Avenue, stopping to give history on many of the structures along the way, among them the office of the doctor who delivered him, the DeYoung Furniture building, which was also a funeral home at one time and the original village hall building.
As part of the 120th anniversary on Sunday of the incorporation of three communities, Lansing, Oak Glen and Bernice, Schultz will again be offering his tour of Ridge Road. Because of the winter weather, the tour will be by bus rather than on foot and this tour will extend west to Ridge Road.
To join the tour, meet behind Gayety's Ice Cream and Candies, 3306 Ridge Road at noon.
