A new IHOP restaurant will be built at 2430 173rd St. and should be done and ready to open by mid-October. The groundbreaking is set for Thursday afternoon.

IL and IN Restaurant Realty, of Schaumburg, Ill., owned by Mike Ruben, is the franchise owner, and Thompson Thrift Development is the developer.

The Indiana restaurants Thompson Thrift has built for Ruben are in Columbus, Fishers, Brownsburg, Avon, Indianapolis and Lafayette. The Illinois restaurants are in Oswego, Bradley, Peru and Morris. IHOP named Ruben its U.S. “Franchisee of the Year” in 2011. The Lansing IHOP will be Ruben's 20th franchise.

Local business people, members of the community, public officials, and representatives of IHOP and of Thompson Thrift Development, with offices in Indianapolis, Carmel and Terre Haute, will be present at the groundbreaking for the 4,806-square-foot restaurant.
