LANSING | The Lan-Oak Park District is accepting nominations for the "Vince Award" in honor of longtime Park Commissioner Wayne Vincent until June 16 at the Park District Administrative Office, 17551 Chicago Ave.

Make nominations to the attention of vice president of the board of commissioners.

An eligible candidate for the "Vince Award" should be someone who helped make Lan-Oak Park District a little better either as a present or former commissioner, staff or volunteer.

Vincent served the Lan-Oak Park District for 20 years. He was instrumental in building the pool and acquiring and development neighborhood parks, turning the park district into a park and recreation system, according to a news release.

The award will be presented at the Grand Old Fourth celebration on July 4 at Lan-Oak Park prior to the fireworks.
