LANSING | The First Christian Church of Lansing will host its annual Vacation Bible School from June 24-29 from 5-7:30 p.m. This year's theme is "D.O.G. - Depend on God," and it will focus on fostering a love of God through a love of dogs. Each night will feature special appearances by dogs from the community.

The program is free and open to kids from age 4 to fifth grade. The students will be taught about what it means to depend on God through Bible stories, crafts, songs, and games. They will also learn about responsible pet ownership, meet working dogs, see amazing dog tricks and much more.

The Vacation Bible School mascot, a giant hound dog named Diogee, will visit every night to play games and have fun with the kids.

The kids are also encouraged to participate in a penny war throughout the week, where the girls and boys try to see who can donate the most change. The penny war money will go to Royal Family Kids' Camp of Living Hope Church, a week long camp that creates life-changing moments for children of abuse.

Pastor Bill Lyons looks forward to Vacation Bible School every year. "I think VBS gives both adults and kids a great way to have fun and learn more about how much God loves us," Lyons said.

The church is located at 2921 Ridge Road in Lansing. To register, please call (219) 805-8343 or e-mail
