LANSING | In an effort to raise awareness of family safety and injury prevention, the Lansing Junior Woman’s Club is organizing the Stay Safe essay contest for children in kindergarten through eighth grade who are Lansing residents attending Lansing schools. The winners will be selected for a special prize – a ride to school on a fire engine!

Contest rules are:

-One entry per student

-Essays should be limited to 400 words.

-At least one source of information should be used in writing your essay and should be stated on the bottom of the page. Essays without a source will not be judged. Your source could be a book, video, website, pamphlet or other published material or an interview with a safety professional.

-Essays can be on any topic related to safety - at home, at play, in the car, at school or in your neighborhood.

The essay deadline is May 3. Entries should include the name, school, grade and phone number of the child entering. Entries should be mailed to Lansing Junior Woman’s Club, P.O. Box 5104, Lansing, IL 60438-0564 or e-mailed to csteinw@yahoo.com with subject line: “LANSING JUNIORS STAY SAFE ESSAY CONTEST.”
