LANSING | The Lansing Public Library, 2750 Indiana Ave., invites adults to participate in its April programs.

Adult Book Discussions

Reality Check adult book discussion will meet at 6:30 p.m. April 11 at the Lansing Public Library. The book discussed will be “Argo: How the CIA and Hollywood Pulled off the Most Audacious Rescue in History” by Antonio Mendez. Copies are available at the upstairs circulation desk.

Murder and Mayhem adult book discussion will meet at 11 .m. April 16 at the Lansing Public Library. The book discussed will be “The Black Echo” by Michael Connelly. Copies are available at the upstairs circulation desk.

Friends of the Library Book Sale is April 13. Members only shop from 9 to 10 a.m. and the general public shops from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Membership available at the door. There is an ongoing book sale located in the Adult Services Department.

Friends Fundraiser: 5 to 9 p.m. April 17 at Buffalo Wild Wings

Buffalo Wild Wings will donate 15 percent of all pre-taxed food only sales between the hours of 5 and 9 p.m. to the Lansing Public Library. Must present flier. Flier is available in the library newsletter.

Adult Programs

Home buyers Education Series from 6 to 8 p.m., April 4, 11, 18, and 25. Free four-part class series: April 4: Orientation, April 11: Budget & Credit, April 18: Shopping for a home and April 25: The Closing Process. Register.

Author Barbara Gregorich from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 11

Author of “Jack and Larry: Jack Graney and Larry, the Cleveland Baseball Dog." The talk is accompanied by slides and a short reading from the book. Books will be available to purchase and a signing following the event. Register.

Ethical Questions in Medical Research: An Historical Perspective Presented by registered nurse Maureen Grady-Perovich. From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 17. Register.

One Book: "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks"

10:30 a.m. April 23. Lansing Public Library is participating in Prairie State Community College’s One Book program. This book will be discussed at many area libraries. Join the library for this book discussion in the Conference Room.

World Book Night: Spreading the Love of Reading, Person to Person on April 23.

There will be volunteer “Givers” strategically placed throughout the village of Lansing specifically to hand out copies of books to nonreaders to help get them started on their journey into the world of books.

Author Rosemary Gard at 10 a.m. April 25

Author of “Destiny Denied” will read a passage from the book. Following the program there will be copies to purchase and have signed by the author. Those in attendance will have a chance for a book give away. Register.

Suenos Latin-Jazz Quartet at 6:30 p.m. April 5. Doors open at 6 p.m. Sponsored by the Friends of Lansing Library.

FRIDAY AFTERNOON MOVIES

“The Worldview Forum: Understanding Life and the World in Which We Live.”

This forum will be an informative series of lectures and discussions, examining various religious worldviews and philosophies that seek to answer and make sense of the questions that we wrestle with in this journey called life. Each lecture/discussion will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Contact Adult Services for lecture topics, dates and to register.

Computer Classes at the Lansing Public Library.

Registration is required and is limited to 10 Lansing Library card holders. Must have library card to register. Classes are 1 1/2  hours in length.

Purls of Wisdom Knitters and Crochet Circle will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. April 3 and 17 and from 10 a.m. to noon April 12 and 26.

The Lansing Business Women's Association is cutting and sorting coupons for military families overseas. The coupons can be used six months past the expiration date at their commissary. Join the Lansing Business Women's Association on the first Monday of every month at the Lansing Public Library in the Community Room from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Bring scissors and any coupons you may have.
