Adult Book Discussions

Avid Reads adult book discussion will meet at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 7. The book discussed will be “Kashmir Shawl” by Rosie Thomas. Copies are available at the upstairs circulation desk.

Reality Check adult book discussion will meet at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 8. The book discussed will be “Ghost in the Wires” by Kevin Mitnick. Copies are available at the upstairs circulation desk.

Friends of the Library Book Sale is Aug. 10. Members only shop from 9 to 10 a.m. and the general public shops from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Membership available at the door. There is an ongoing book sale located in the Fiction and Beyond Department.

Friends of the Library Bakers Square fundraiser is from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 19. Lansing Bakers Square, 3545 Ridge Road, will donate 10 percent of all purchases to the Friends. No flier needed.

Adult Programs

You Can’t Take the Sky From Me: Serenity Screening from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug.  12. Join us for the screening of the beloved Serenity at 6 p.m. but come early at 5 p.m. and take part in our Serenity/Firefly trivia contest to win prizes. Registration is not required.

Free Book Signing with DC Comics writer Kyle Higgins from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 7. Come meet DC Comics writer Kyle Higgins. He will be on hand to sign copies of his work for free.

Tabletop Gaming Night is from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 24. Over the age of 18 and still love to game? Then come to the Tabletop Gaming Night. There is a wide collection of tabletop games to choose from. Drop by and join a game, or bring a group and grab a whole table. Registration is not required. This is a monthly event taking place the fourth Saturday of the month.

Computer Classes at the Lansing Public Library.

Registration is required and is limited to 10 Lansing Library card holders. Must have library  card to register. Classes are 1 1/2  hours in length.

Calumet River Creative Writers Group will meet from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the first Saturday of the month.

Purls of Wisdom Knitters and Crochet Circle will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 21 and from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 2, 16 and 30.

The Lansing Business Women's Association is cutting and sorting coupons for military families overseas. The coupons can be used six months past the expiration date at their commissary. Join them on the first Monday of every month at the Lansing Public Library in the Community Room. They meet from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Bring scissors and any coupons you may have.
