LANSING | St. John’s Lutheran School recently welcomed author Jon Nielsen to read his book, “Laney Gets Her Ridge," about a dog's adventures in Africa, to preschoolers through first-graders.

Nielsen also spent some time sharing the background to his story as well as his iPad app, which includes coloring pages and puzzles from the book.

The day concluded with the Lansing Fire Department brining the fire safety house and walking kids through the process of staying safe at home and at school.

St. John’s Lutheran School has been educating children from the surrounding Lansing area for 120 years. The school teaches 3-year-olds through eighth-graders and is still accepting enrollment for this school year. For more information go to www.stjlansing.org or call (708) 895-9280.
