LANSING | The First Christian Church of Lansing's youth group, The Eternal Generation, is sponsoring several events over the next few months to raise money for their summer mission trip to Wheeling, West Virginia.
On May 4, the group will sell baked goods outside of the church during Lansing's Good Neighbor Day parade.
On May 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., they are hosting a vendor and craft fair featuring dozens of direct sales vendors and unique crafters.
From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 22, they are having their annual church rummage sale, which will feature thousands of items for sale.
Every fair-weather Saturday in June, there will be a car wash in the church parking lot. The church is located at 2921 Ridge Road in Lansing.
This will be the fourth year that the group has gone to Wheeling to work with needy children. They travel with the North Carolina-based organization, Youth on Mission, which specializes in youth mission trips. "We love Youth on Mission, and we love the city of Wheeling. We look forward to going all year," Mindy Sarlea, youth leader, stated.
Erin Applegate, a high school junior, will be going for her third time this year. When asked why she likes to go, she replied, "I go to spread the love of God and try to make a difference. I also go for those times we spend with other youth groups who share our same values. It's a priceless feeling, not having to hold back my passions."
