LANSING | A Lowell woman faces drunken driving and drug charges after she backed into a Lansing squad car in a fast food parking lot, police said.
Kimberly S. Weaver, 29, is charged with DUI after failing a field sobriety test, possession of a controlled substance, felony criminal damage to property and other traffic-related offenses, according to a news release from the Lansing Police Department. Police said she was found in possession of heroin.
Police responded to a report of a suspected drunken driver early Tuesday in the area of Ridge Road and Torrence Avenue, the release states.
Officers located Weaver's car in the Burger King parking lot, 18156 Torrence Ave., and when they attempted to block her from leaving, Weaver backed into one of the squad cars, police said.
She was taken to the Sixth District Cook County Circuit Courthouse in Markham for a bond hearing. Weaver's bond was set at $40,000 and she has an Oct. 5 court date, according to the Cook County state's attorney's office.
The Illinois State Police are investigating the crash.
