Adult Book Discussions

Avid Reads adult book discussion will meet at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 2. The book discussed will be “Gone Girl” by Gillian Flynn. Copies are available at the upstairs circulation desk.

Reality Check adult book discussion will meet at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 10. The book discussed will be “Moby-Dick: The True Story of 28,000 Bath Toys Lost at Sea” by Donovan Hohn. Copies are available at the upstairs circulation desk.

Murder and Mayhem adult book discussion will meet at 11 a.m. Oct. 15. The book discussed will be reader's choice — select a title from the Armand Gamache series.

Friends of the Library Book Sale is Oct. 12. Members only shop from 9 to 10 a.m., general public from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Membership available at the door. There is an ongoing book sale located in the Fiction and Beyond Department.

Friends of the Library Beggars Pizza Fundraiser is from 11 a.m. to 1o p.m. Oct. 21. Friends receive 20 percent of the bill. Download the required flier on the website. Dine-in or carry out. Flier required when ordering.

Adult Programs

An Afternoon with Psychic Edward Shanahan is from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 5.

Best Chicago Psychic 2012 winner and author Edward Shanahan joins library patrons for a paranormal and spiritual afternoon. Registration required, limit 35.

Paper Creations Classes from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 17.

October project is Decorative Tags. This program is limited to 12 Lansing Library card holders. Library card is needed to register for this program.

Travel with Doug Dvorak: China: Land of Magic & Mystery at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 29.

Tabletop Gaming Night is from 3 to 7 p.m. Oct. 26.

Over the age of 18 and still love to game? Then come to Tabletop Gaming Night. We have an awesome collection of tabletop games to choose from. Drop by and join a game, or bring a group and grab a whole table. Registration is not required. This is a monthly event taking place the fourth Saturday of the month.

Computer Classes at the Lansing Public Library.

Registration is required and is limited to 10 Lansing Library card holders. Must have library  card to register. Classes are 1 1/2  hours in length. Call for available classes, dates and times.

Calumet River Creative Writers Group will meet from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 5 and 19.

Purls of Wisdom Knitters and Crochet Circle will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. Oct. 2, 16 and 30 and from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Oct. 11 and 25.

The Lansing Business Women's Association is cutting and sorting coupons for military families overseas. The coupons can be used six months past the expiration date at their commissary. Join them on the first Monday of every month at the Lansing Public Library in the Community Room. They meet from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Bring scissors and any coupons you may have.
