LANSING | Eleven year old Micah Steele was diagnosed with cancer when he was in first grade in Bridgett Anderson's class at Oak Glen School in Lansing.
Since he was diagnosed, he has had many treatments and procedures and continues to fight the disease that has now spread to his lungs and heart. He hopes to be able to visit Disneyworld with his parents and four siblings, which includes a twin brother.
Steele's former teacher has organized a Zumba fundraiser called "Dance for Disney" to help raise funds to make the trip possible.
The event will take place March 10 at Memorial Jr. High School, 2721 Ridge Road in Lansing. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and the event is from 2 to 4 p.m.
A $20 donation is requested for those who attend. There are also raffles for various prizes for $5 each or 5 for $20. Those who cannot attend can make a donation to the family at www.dance4disney.com.
