St. John resident Tiffany Groen is excited to begin working toward a career in education.
A senior at Illiana Christian High School in Lansing, Groen will study elementary education in college and hopes to inspire her students for the better.
“I love kids and my dream is to impact students’ lives like mine has been impacted by so many marvelous teachers over the years,” Groen said.
“I have wanted to be a teacher since I was younger, and as the years have gone by, I have seen God opening more doors for my dream to come true.”
The daughter of David and Cathy Groen, the teen maintains a 3.7 grade point average and enjoys mathematics and Bible studies.
She is a member of the cross country, basketball and soccer teams and received the Spirit Award for cross country two consecutive years. The award recognized her encouraging attitude toward teammates.
In addition, Groen has participated in Student Council all four years of high school, and serves as Student Council vice president this year.
“I love interacting with other students, helping with different school events, and most of all, I love getting to know the other kids on Student Council,” she said.
“I just help out our amazing president whenever she needs me.”
