LANSING | Students and staff from Wagoner Elementary School in Sauk Village celebrated the 50th birthday of Amelia Bedelia Jan. 29.

Teachers dressed up as the mixed-up maid and the day was filled with activities.

A mystery reader came to each classroom to read aloud an Amelia Bedelia book. Students also had a birthday party for Amelia and learned about Peggy Parrish during library time. Parish wrote the beloved Amelia Bedelia books and is famous for her use of idioms.
