LANSING | Work resumed Monday on a Wentworth Avenue reconstruction project, forcing the closure of the northbound lane from Ridge Road to 186th Street.
Closing that portion of the road will allow the replacement of a water main under the road, said Village Trustee Terry Kapteyn. Kapteyn said Wentworth Avenue from Ridge Road south to Glenwood/Lansing Road will remain open to traffic.
Cook County officials previously said permanent asphalt pavement will be placed on Wentworth Avenue after the water main is replaced. That work will completing the project, which began last spring.
The project will add a middle turn lane for both north and southbound traffic to the 1.4-mile stretch of Wentworth Avenue from Ridge Road to Glenwood/Lansing Road.
The bulk of the project was complete when county officials shut it down for the winter months in December.
A completion date for the work has not been determined.
