HAMMOND | Two local men were sentenced Wednesday in connection with a drug distribution ring, court records state.
Marcell Seawood, of Gary, was ordered to serve five years in prison while Rigoberto Banuelos, of Lynwood, was sentenced to serve five years and 10 months behind bars.
The ring allegedly made more than $450,000 from distributing marijuana and cocaine, according to court records.
Both men were indicted in 2008 after the operation was busted by federal officials.
Also charged in 2008 and 2009 with related offenses include: Samuel Carranza, of Lansing; Zatia Sain, of Portage; Malcolm Manuel and Dwayne Crawford, both of Merrillville; and Steve Biggs, Alanden Johnson, Christopher Bynum and Ellis Bryant, all of Gary. Addresses weren't available for Pedro Rondan, Lashon Sain, Beverly Burks, Sandra McGuire or Jose Quiroz.
Seawood was given four years of supervised release after serving the prison sentence. Banuelos was ordered to two years supervised release and was fined $15,000.
