LYNWOOD | Police are investigating the death earlier this week of an 8-month-old boy who was found in a bathtub.
Police Chief Michael Mears said Friday, “We’re in the early stages of a death investigation” involving the boy, who was found at about 8 p.m. Wednesday in a bathtub with water at a house in the 19900 block of Park Avenue.
Mears said the infant showed signs of “labored breathing” when initially found by police, and was taken to The Community Hospital in Munster, where he was pronounced dead later Wednesday night.
Mears could not say how the child happened to get into the bathtub, or if anyone else was in the house at the time of the incident Wednesday night. "We're still putting the details together," he said.
As of Friday, police said no charges had been filed against anyone, and Mears said there was no one who could be considered a “person of interest.”
But Mears said that police were learning more information, and were hoping to have significantly more details about the death during the weekend.
