LYNWOOD | Divers with the Lynwood and South Holland police and fire departments could not find anyone Friday after a sport utility vehicle ran off Torrence Avenue and landed in a watery ditch, according to a news release from the Lynwood Police Department.

Police were called at 9:38 a.m. Friday to the 20100 block of Torrence Avenue, about a half-mile north of Glenwood-Dyer Road, to a report of an overturned vehicle in the watery ditch, police said.

Police found a gold 2006 Ford SUV overturned in the ditch. The car was recovered after divers searched for the driver.

Divers searched the ditch, walking about a half mile. The water in the ditch was nearly 4 feet deep in some places. As of Friday evening, police said a driver had not been found.

Lynwood police are investigating and following up on leads, the release said. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Lynwood police at (708) 758-4744.
