HAMMOND | The Northwest Indiana Symphony Youth Orchestra will present a fall concert Dec. 1 in the Hammond Academy of Performing Arts Auditorium at Morton High School, 6915 Grand Ave. The concert, under the direction of Philip Bauman, will begin at 7 p.m.
The 65-member Northwest Indiana Symphony Youth Orchestra is comprised of students from Lake, Porter, Newton, Jasper and La Porte counties in Indiana and Cook County in Illinois.
Tickets are general admission, and are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Middle and high school students can attend free, but must obtain a ticket at the box office at Morton High School on Dec. 1 by showing a student ID. This concert will feature violinist Adé Williams, Junior Division Winner of the 2012 annual Sphinx Competition, performing Saint-Saӫns’ Introduction and Allegro as well as the Theme from Schindler’s List by John Williams.
The orchestra will be highlighted in Rachmaninoff’s “Youth Symphony” as well as the overtures to Orpheus in the Underworld and Russlan & Ludmilla. Highlights from the holiday movie "The Polar Express" will round out the program.
