Area police reported no major problems on area roadways early Friday following the first snowfall of the season.
Indiana State Police for the Lowell District and the Indiana Toll Road reported no major accidents overnight. Illinois State Police said troopers reported to a few minor slide-offs.
Local police departments said there are a few isolated icy patches on side streets and at intersections. County and municipal plows and salt trucks were working to treat those areas.
The Indiana Department of Transportation has 170 trucks on the road, according to spokesman Matt Deitchley. As of 10:30 a.m., those drivers were reporting Lake County roads were the best compared to the rest of the district.
Porter and LaPorte counties continued to see blowing and drifting snow and slick spots. Two crews were working to clear the U.S. 20 bypass as well as areas between U.S. 35, U.S. 30 and Ind. 8, Deitchley said.
NIPSCO and ComEd reported no significant power outages in Northwest Indiana or the south suburbs.
A high wind advisory remains in effect along the lakeshore in Porter County until 6 p.m.
