Oprah wants Chicago to boogie down for her show
Chicago can dance. Think the "Shake a Tail Feather" number in "Blues Brothers" and Matthew Broderick getting a crowd to "Twist and Shout" during the parade scene in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."
Oprah Winfrey wants the Windy City to put its best foot forward again.
Details are sketchy, but the talk-show diva is scouting for locations for a huge public dance fest over Labor Day weekend. Her alleged sidekick: will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas. The segment will premiere on "The Oprah Winfrey Show."
Both City Hall and a Winfrey spokeswoman declined to comment, but ExtraOrdinary Casting is seeking mobs of volunteers ages 16 and older to dance "in an historical episode with a popular band." Males and females of all ethnicities are wanted. Professionals are preferred but not necessary. Up to 2,500 volunteers are needed for the spot. Dancers must be available Sept. 7 to 8 and can e-mail darlene@extraordinarycasting.net for details.
Winfrey, who served as honorary chairwoman for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's 50th anniversary gala in New York, quipped to "Extra," "In my wildest, wildest, crazy, crazy dreams, I am a dancer."
She also is reportedly intrigued by T-Mobile's viral ad campaign, where hoofer-ringers inspire mass bopping in a British rail station.
