'Fourth Partition' screening

MERRILLVILLE | A Mass in the Polish language will be celebrated at noon in the Our Lady of Czestochowa Shrine, and the film "The Fourth Partition" will be shown about 1:15 p.m. in Millennium Hall at Salvatorian Fathers, 5755 Pennsylvania St., Merrillville. Starting with the arrival of the first documented Poles in Jamestown in 1608, the film discusses political and economic reasons for the mass Polish migration to Chicago and Northwest Indiana at the turn of the 20th century. Featuring rarely shown photographs and films, the documentary explores old Chicago Polish neighborhoods. It discusses the Poles' culture, daily life, their jobs and their political activism during World War I. The film will be shown in English with Polish subtitles. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children. Advance reservations are requested; make them by calling (219) 884-0714.

Showing of 'The Bible'
