Christmas program and caroling

HAMMOND | Hammond Christian Reformed Church will sponsor its annual Christmas program beginning at 11 a.m. at 1910 167th St. At 5 p.m. songs of the season will be sung. Hot wassail and snacks will be served. Call (219) 844-3331.

Christmas cantata

HIGHLAND | The St. James Music Ministry will perform a Christmas cantata from 2 to 3:15 p.m. at 9640 Kennedy Ave. The Adult, Youth, and Chime choirs will join with instruments. Call (219) 923-1119.

CHESTERTON | Fairhaven Baptist Church will hold its Christmas service at 10:30 a.m. with a special children's program at 86 E. Oak Hill Road. Call (219) 926-6636.

Holiday services

MERRILLVILLE | Protection of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church will hold a Vesperal liturgy at 9 a.m. and Compline and Matins at 7 p.m. There also will be a divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. Christmas Day at the church, 8600 Grand Blvd. Call (219) 947-4748.

Christmas Eve service

MERRILLVILLE | Bethel Church invites the community to attend its annual Christmas Eve services at 2 and 4 p.m at Star Plaza Theatre, 8001 Delaware Place. Each service will feature a special choir, a mix of traditional Christmas songs with contemporary worship music, and preaching by Bethel Senior Pastor Steve DeWitt. Childcare is not provided, but families are encouraged to bring their children into the service. Call (219) 663-9200.

Christmas Eve services

VALPARAISO | First United Methodist Church Valparaiso will hold a candlelight family service at 6 p.m. At 8 p.m. there will be a Holy Communion and candlelight sermon. At 10, there will be lessons, caroling and candlelight, all at 103 Franiklin St. Call (219) 465-1661.

Contemporary Christmas service

CROWN POINT | Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and School is offering a contemporary Christmas service at 9 p.m. with the music of Brandon Grelle's band and vocalists and a Christmas message from Senior Pastor David Easterday. A family Christmas Eve service will be held at 6 p.m., and a traditional candlelight worship service at 11 p.m., all at 250 S. Indiana Ave. Call (219) 793-3370.
