RIVERDALE | More than 50 families at Washington Elementary and Junior High schools recently received donations of food, coats, gloves, hats, scarves, and toys thanks to the kindness and generosity of volunteers from the Chrysalis Community Center.

The Dolton West Elementary District 148 School Board in December extended its appreciation to Chrysalis Community Center and provided a certificate of appreciation to center representative Marilyn Bricks.

“We thank the Chrysalis Community Center for reaching out to help our families. We are gratified knowing there are organizations and individuals willing to go the extra mile to do kind things for our students,” School Board President Joyce J. Jackson said.

Chrysalis Community Center in Park Forest is a nonprofit community education center dedicated to working with youth and their families.

District 148 serves approximately 2,500 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. The school system has one early childhood center, six elementary schools, and three junior high schools serving families in sections of Dolton, Riverdale, Harvey and South Holland.
