SAUK VILLAGE | A Dyer man died Thursday morning after being struck by a school bus while riding his bicycle on Sauk Trail, Sauk Village police said in a news release.

The Lake County coroner's office identified the victim as Sean A. Tarne, 23, of the 2400 block of Hart Street.

He was pronounced dead at Franciscan St. Margaret Health hospital in Dyer after the accident. The coroner's office said Tarne died of blunt force trauma.

Sauk Village police received a report of a bicyclist who had been struck by a school bus at 6:31 a.m. Thursday. Officers found Tarne in the middle of the road in the 1600 block of Sauk Trail.

Paramedics treated Tarne at the scene and then transported him to the Dyer hospital.

No charges have been filed against the bus driver, police said.
