SAUK VILLAGE | The economic eyes of the south suburbs will be on Sauk Village on Friday as the village hosts the Chicago Southland Economic Development Corp.'s quarterly forum.

The event, to be held at the Sauk Village Municipal Center at 21801 Torrence Ave., will begin with networking at 8:30 am. followed by speakers from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Speakers will include Sauk Village President David Hanks, who will discuss development opportunities within the village.

The building is expandable up to 1.2 million square feet.

Senior Vice President of insurance agency The Horton Group Mike Wojick will speak about the Affordable Care Act and the changes that went into effect on Jan. 1, including how they will affect local businesses and municipalities.

Rusty Winchel, a senior consultant for outreach, engagement, and information technologies for the regional development group at Northern Illinois University, will discuss the advantages offered to local businesses by the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association's $16 million Southland fiber network project that began in May 2012. Winchel is a telecommunications and data networking expert.

The final speaker will be Cook County Director of Planning and Development Michael Jasso.
