GLENWOOD — A 29-year-old Schererville man died Wednesday morning after losing control of the Lamborghini he was driving and hitting a tree, Illinois State Police said.

Joseph A. Rodgers was speeding in the left lane on southbound Ill. 394, just north of Glenwood Lansing Road, about 2:11 a.m. when he passed a vehicle on the left, swerved to the right and lost control, police said.

The red 2006 Lamborghini he was driving went into a grassy ditch and struck a tree. Rodgers was pronounced dead at the scene by Cook County medical examiner's staff, police said.

All southbound lanes of the highway were closed for investigation and re-opened about 4:40 a.m.

Drugs and alcohol were not being considered as contributing factors, police said.
