SOUTH CHICAGO HEIGHTS | Officials are searching for a man after he allegedly robbed a bank inside a Jewel-Osco store Sunday morning.
The man walked up to the teller at TCF Bank inside the grocery store, 3220 Chicago Road, and implied he had a weapon, South Chicago Heights Detective Sgt. Jake Kozinski said.
He gave the teller a note and he was given an unknown amount of cash. He fled in a vehicle about 10:30 a.m., Kozinski said.
Police didn't have a vehicle description Sunday night but described the suspect as a black man with a full beard, about 200 pounds and 5 feet 9 inches tall. He wore a black shirt and black pants.
A tracking device placed with the cash was found later on Sauk Trail near Rosieclaire Court, Kozinski said.
The case was turned over to the FBI.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the FBI at (708) 349-0004.
