SOUTH HOLLAND | Police Department officials and the Cook County medical examiner’s office were investigating the death of a person whose body was found Friday at an area house.

Police secured the house at 16758 State St., where they discovered a body on the premises early in the morning.

South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force officials are cooperating with the Police Department in the investigation. They are interviewing associates and trying to notify next of kin of the death.

Officials with the medical examiner’s office said their investigators spent the day at the scene, but were unable to say who the person was, how long the body had been at the scene or what the cause of death might be.

The investigation is ongoing, police said. They were unable to provide any other information Friday afternoon.
