SOUTH HOLLAND | Thornton Township Supervisor Frank Zuccarelli and the Human Relations Commission invites the public to the township's tree lighting ceremony from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 30 at the Township Hall, 333 E. 162nd St.

The 14th annual Spirit of Thornton will include 18 Christmas trees, one for each of the township's 17 municipalities and a larger one to symbolize the unity of the Thornton Township community.

Representatives from the township's 17 municipalities along with Santa will be on hand to light the Christmas tree. The free event will also include horse and buggy rides, hot chocolate and Christmas caroling.
