SOUTH HOLLAND | Entries are being taken for the Second Congressional District Regional High School Art Awards, being held April 26 at South Suburban College.

U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly will host the reception, which will begin at 9 a.m., in the Lee E. Dulgar Gallery, 15800 South State St., South Holland. Student winners and runner-ups from participating regional high schools will be announced at the event.

Participating students must reside or attend a school within the 2nd Congressional District. Students may submit artwork through their high school offices, and all participants may also submit their works by appointment at one of Kelly’s three district offices, April 14-19 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Artwork must be two dimensional, framed, no larger than 28” x 28” x 4” and can include paintings, drawings, collages, prints, photographs, computer generated art, or mixed media (use of two or more mediums such as pencils, ink, watercolor, etc.). All artwork must be original. The winner’s artwork will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol for one year.

The high school art competition was established by the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982 to acknowledge and support the artistic talent of America’s young adults.
