SOUTH HOLLAND | A woman who was found dead in her home Friday was killed, according to the Cook County medical examiner.

The South Holland Police Department has opened a homicide investigation into the death of Rachel Galbreath, 33, 1678 State St. Galbreath was found dead in her home at 10:23 a.m. Friday, according to a new release.

She was pronounced dead on the scene. An autopsy Saturday determined the cause of death was multiple injuries and assault, and the manner of death was homicide, the medical examiner's office ruled.

An investigation is ongoing, and South Holland police are working closely with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force on the case.
