SOUTH HOLLAND | The South Suburban College Basketball and Baseball Programs will return two Holiday Camps to SSC’s main campus in South Holland just before the new year.

First, head baseball coach Steve Ruzich will be directing a two-day Catching Camp from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 27 and 28. Ruzich has directed youth camps for the past 27 years and has taught baseball skills at many other baseball camps throughout the state. This clinic will provide catching instruction in the areas of blocking, calling a game, pick offs, pop throwing times, stance and footwork, drills for practice, pop ups, handling pitchers, and conditioning. In addition to Ruzich’s instruction, Bulldog baseball players will be on hand to help and develop skills. The players’ enthusiasm and expertise always adds to the camp’s success. The Catching Camp is open to Ages 8-18. All players should bring their glove and gear. All participants should wear baseball or sweat pants and gym shoes, and boys must wear cups. The cost of the Catching Camp is $100, and checks should be made payable to SSC Bulldog Baseball.

The men’s basketball team will host their seventh annual Holiday Basketball Camp for boys and girls ages 7 to 17. Campers will learn from the highly experienced staff of the SSC men’s basketball team and current Bulldog players. The two-day camp will take place from  9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 30 and 31 in the SSC Fitness Center. The cost of the camp is $60 per camper. Pizza, snacks, and refreshments will be on sale for lunch. Campers and their families will be invited as special guests for the Bulldogs home game the day before the first day of camp, at 3 p.m. Dec. 29 vs. Grand Rapids Community College, a 2012 NJCAA Division II national championship qualifier.
