SOUTH HOLLAND | The heat wave this past summer and the coming winter have prompted Thornton Township officials to host an Energy Fair on Saturday.
The fair, which takes place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thornton Township Hall, 333 E. 162nd St., South Holland, will provide assistance to residents to avoid energy shutoffs.
According to a news release, Township Supervisor Frank Zuccarelli is negotiating with energy providers to restore service and place residents on an affordable payment plan.
The 2012 Energy Fair is coordinated by Township Fair Event Coordinator Antoine Collins, in partnership with state reps. Thaddeus Jones, Will Davis and Cook County Board Commissioner Deborah Sims.
