SOUTH HOLLAND | Thornton Township Supervisor Frank Zuccarelli will host the Thornton Township Veterans Day Benefit Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Thornton Township Hall, 333 E. 162nd St., according to a news release.
Veterans benefit specialists will attend to assist with health and life insurance, education benefits, home loan guarantees, burial and memorial benefits, record keeping, caregivers support and training, homeless veterans and federal benefits for veteran dependents and survivors.
CEDA representatives will assist veterans with Nicor Gas and ComEd bill payments for those who are on the verge of disconnection. Thornton Township representatives will negotiate with CEDA for payment and/or establish payment arrangements. Required documentation includes proof of gross income from all household members for a 30-day period prior to the application date (LIHEAP program only), annual income for each member age 16 and older (weatherization program only), current copy of heating and electric bills, which must have been issued within the last 30 days, proof of ownership of dwelling (lease, rent receipt), Social Security numbers of household members and a photo ID.
All veterans are encouraged to attend the Veterans Benefit Fair. Widows and widowers of veterans are also encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be served. Call the Thornton Township Community Relations Department at (708) 596-6040, ext. 3128 for more information.
