STEGER | No one was injured but eight units of a storage facility sustained damage in a Thursday afternoon fire that is still under investigation, Fire Chief Jeff Roesner said.

Firefighters received the call at 12:29 p.m. of a fire to the storage unit facility at 28  E. 37th St. Firefighters from South Chicago Heights, Steger Estates, Crete, Crete Township and University Park were also called to the scene.

It took just under an hour to put out the blaze and another hour for cleanup, Roesner said. The cause is not yet known, firefighters believe the fire started on the west end of the structure.

A damage estimate could not be determined until owners assess their losses, Roesner said.
