THORNTON | The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that a resurfacing project on Eleanor Street from Williams Street to Water Street will begin today, weather permitting.

Work involves pavement patching, milling and resurfacing, and adjustments to the curb, sidewalk and sewer structure. Traffic lanes may be reduced during construction activities.

The anticipated completion date is July 15.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Flaggers will direct semitrucks entering and leaving Eleanor Street. Drivers are reminded to watch for signing in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
