THORNTON | The Police Department is investigating a collision this week that occurred between an automobile and a semitrailer.

Police Chief Douglas Beckman said Thursday that police responded shortly after noon Wednesday to an incident at Williams and Eleanor streets.

When they arrived, they found the two vehicles with collision damage.

The driver of the semitrailer was able to walk away from his truck. But the driver of the automobile, whom Beckman was unable to identify, had to be transported by helicopter to Advocate Christ Medical Center in southwest suburban Oak Lawn.

The driver’s condition was not available on Thursday.

Beckman said that as of Thursday, no charges had been filed or tickets had been issued to anyone in connection with the incident.

"This matter is still under investigation, and we won’t be able to consider that until we figure out exactly what happened,” the chief said.
