THORNTON | The Village Board has accepted bids to proceed with the demolition of a foreclosed house at 102 Eleanor St.

"That was part of our ongoing Neighborhood Improvement Program," Village Administrator Jason Wicha said. "The total project-related cost for the demolition was just under $11,500."

The house is expected to be torn down and the debris removed from the property by the end of the month.

Wicha said the village received a demolition order through the court system and will place a lien on the property for the costs incurred.
